Jesus Christ gave the utmost attention to little children. We strive
to follow His example by making our ministry to elementary age students, preschoolers and
their families every bit as important as other ministries of the church. From our
fully-graded Sunday School classes to seasonal activities such as Kid's Camp and Vacation
Bible School, our goal is to teach values and beliefs about God, Jesus, and the church
that these young people will carry with them the rest of their lives.
Our children's / preschool ministry includes, but
is not limited to:
- Sunday School classes for each school grade and
every age of preschool
- AWANA program on Wednesday nights
- Vacation Bible School each summer
- Kid's Camp for grades 2 and up each summer
- Praise Kids choir for elementary students
- Preschool choir

The Student Ministry at Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church defies the
logic that church can't be both fun and vitally important for young people. Staffed by fun
and fully-trained parents and youth leaders, our youth ministry is dedicated to helping
students in grades 7-12 grow in the likeness of Christ. We accomplish this with a variety
of activities, such as:
- Sunday School classes for each school grade
- Wednesday Night Youth Worship Services that involve
praise and Bible study in their own Youth Fellowship Room
- Youth Camp each summer
- Mission opportunities both with the church at-large
and specifically for youth
- Youth Choir
- Many other youth activities throughout the year

Our goal within the College and Career department at Shelbyville
Mills Baptist Church is to develop within each student a personal faith and a deeper love
for God, by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is vital that as as student begins his or her
own career, they deepen their own personal faith and love for God. As personal faith
grows, we will make disciples of Jesus Christ while dealing with the issues of college and
future career. We also focus on other activities:
- Sunday Morning Bible Study
- Wednesday devotional with a focus on current issues,
struggles or questions
- Counsel on stewardship and budgeting/finance
- Activities throughout the year to encourage
fellowship and personal growth
- Focus upon discipleship and ministry to others

We believe music is an exceptional way to participate in worship and
glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise and worship are not just for choir members or those
who have some kind of musical background, but for every believer who professes the name of
Christ. Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church offers several opportunities for those wishing to
participate in leading worship corporately.
- Adult Celebration Choir
- Praise Band and instrumentalists
- Soloists for worship services
- Small ensembles for adults and youth
- Youth Choir for grades 7-12
- Praise Kids for grades 1-6
- Preschool Choir beginning at age 2

Providing our church family with a solid, Bible-centered education
ministry is a top priority at Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church. Our primary education
focus is on the Sunday School which meets every Sunday morning at 9:00 AM. Classes are
offered for preschool, children, youth, college and career, women, men and median and
older couples. It is our desire that through Sunday School people will be saved,
ministered to, and have the needs of fellowship met.
In addition to Sunday School, events
are planned yearly that incorporate the whole church body. Events are also planned yearly
for senior adults, ladies, men, youth, children and preschoolers.
For more information about Sunday
School or events scheduled throughout the year, please contact the church at 931.684.3625.
